A big MORNING to everyone of you. A regular body clock is also really important to losing weight - so wake up early and sleep early to keep fats away.
First things first, so much thanks (and tbh I was quite surprised!) to all the good words and feedback from last week's Weight Loss Diary Part I. To be honest, weight loss has always always been one of my biggest struggles - and I believe it applies to many girls too. So I have always wanted to do something like that but have only been able to do it now because I wanna make sure it's healthy, happy and positive. Only by loving your body will it starts to work the way you want. Weight loss is not about torturing yourself, but loving it, caring for it.
Now, without further ado, Part II of my Weight Loss Diary: Workout!
Before I go on and on about workout is wonderful, fabulous and 100 good things about workout, here's one and only reason why you should continue reading this. I haven't gained 1lb of fat after I started working out 5 months ago. I eat a lot, I enjoy my cheat days, I party, and did not gain 1 single lb. Quite the opposite, I become fitter, firmer and healthier. It's only been 5 months and I already see the effects.
Work out to eat more.
Apart from a balanced diet and healthy mindset, you would have expected an equivalent amount of Workouts. To lose weight, make sure your calories output is over your calories intake. That is when workouts come into the picture, one burns the fat and turns it into muscles.
Fitness Fact: First, the size of 1kg of fat is 3 times of 1kg of muscle; Second, 1 pound of muscle burns seven to 10 calories per day, while 1 pound of fat burns only 2 to 3 calories.
So, yes, through working out, you may look fitter even though you weigh heavier; and the more muscles you have the quicker you burn calories and the fitter you are. Healthy cycle or vicious cycle, your choice.
Move your butt, stay committed.
I know, I know, I know. Moving your butt to the gym is like squeezing the last bit of the toothpaste - so tempted to just lie in bed and not go. But, no pain, no gain. You don't lose fats by sitting in front of your laptop, watching fitness Youtube vids, while snacking. And trust me, the more you go, the quicker it becomes your habit and then you will find not going rather painful. So stay so committed, focus on your goals, and work towards them.
Work out your way of workouts.
Everyone's workout routines and motivations are different. My way of workout works for me, but may not particularly work for you. So figure out your own way - 2 times a week, 3 times a week, yoga, core trainings. It doesn't matter as long as you enjoy them. Because only by enjoying the process will the magic works on you.
I put pictures of me at my fattest as my phone wallpaper. Whenever I see it, I'll be like "damn, I don't want that". It motivates me, a lot.
Get a workout buddy.
Find your workout buddy, make plans together, work out together. You'll be surprised how two is better than one. She is the one who first pulled me to the gym which then starts our workout journey together. Not only do we gym together, we cheat together too. We do eat all those fat unhealthy food before we go, and then we work even harder during the session. So you see.
When you lose weight, you don't only focus on one body part.
Fun Fact 1: You can barely only focus on your thighs, your butt, or your tummy. It has to be an overall thing. Trainings tone you down completely. Yes you may lose a little bit of your boobs while you lose weight, and yes your arms may look a little bigger. But trust me, it's all about the right body proportion.
Fun Fact 2: (in fact one of the biggest worries for girls) It is very hard for girls to become as muscular as boys. Since the body structures are different, it is harder for girls to get bulky.
Balanced diet, balanced work out.
Some workout knowledge from my fitness centre before I start my journey - you gotta get a balanced diet as well as a balanced workout.
Bear in mind: stretch, tone down and body build.
So this is what I do: I do HIIT or muay thai to LOSE FATS while gym to BUILD UP muscles and do not forget to do yoga to STRETCH out the bulked-up muscles so that you can come back stronger the next time.
Big yes to rest days.
Yes, you might ask: aren't you supposed to be so committed? Yes, but rest days are just as important as gym days. Realistically you are tried, you body is worn out and even if you train, it's not going to work. Getting fit isn't about killing yourself, focus on rest days, recover and come back strong.
For your information, this is the fitness centre I go to. Absolutely clean, user-friendly, and most importantly, not commercial (PS. Trainers are amazing, professional, hot and not naked, don't worry). Aerial yoga, hatha yoga, muay thai, dance, HIIT, personal trainings, all-in-one.
Address: Room 102, Yue Xiu Plaza, No. 3-23 Ning Yuen Street, San Po Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kon
They change me, totally. They make me fitter, healthier, and stronger.
Fit or fat, differs by one alphabet, your choice. Six packs or chocolates, your choice. Summer or winter body, your choice. The only bad workout is the one you didn't do. So girl, why be jealous when you can make others jealous, get your butt off the chair and work it out!
Good luck lovelies,
