All the way through thick and thin, here we are at our last few pages of the last Chapter XII of 2016. Were you also overwhelmed by the "New Year, New Me" reminders/sarcastic tweets recently? I am sure you all were. Somehow, they just remind me to look back at my 2016. Yeh, my 2016, a year I - surprisingly - find difficulty in making up memories together. There are fragments of memories which I think got stolen by a mermaid's kiss. From turning 21 to graduation to settling back in HK and CityU and many many many things else, 2016 has been a "complicated" year. Ups are big, but so are the downs, also massive.
Not gonna lie, what you see now is the final outcome after 1000 drafts. I was planning to write a little something like an overview at my 22nd birthday but I just couldn’t. I did not know what to write, did not know how I should write, or more is I did not know where to start with. But this time, I know I wanna do it.
Graduation has been one of the best things in 2016, and still one best moment in my entire life. Law has not been easy, and doing law in Cambridge has made it even more unbearable. But for the first time, I feel proud of myself, of my hard work, of parents and friends who choose to stay at the hard times. Plus I am overjoy to tell you all that I am now working as a part-time magazine editor! I am more than grateful and lucky to know who I want to be and get to work with what I love at a relatively early stage. And it’s always always been my dream job.
Somehow I believe that everything’s meant to be. You can’t change your fate, you just walk it. 2016 is not particularly easy, but as I’ve said, I believe it’s meant to be and I’ll have to walk it no matter what. Stay tough, and believe.
Sooooo these are some festive year-end activities I have done! I would recommend you guys to try them as well.
1. Dress like a ballerina and watch the Nutcracker ballet!
If you didn't know, I used to do ballet until year 10(?!) And even after quitting ballet, I still had that fantasy with tutus and jumps and turns. Especially when it comes to the festive happy Nutcracker! It's just a good thing to kick off my Christmas week.
2. Why not a reindeer?
Santa sent me to deliver the gifts, but I am afraid I am stuck with the food and wine here. Don't tell Santa.
3. Christmas Eve Dinner
Christmas eve's such an important day to welcome the joy and laughter. Can't think of anything more appropriate than dinner at a festive restaurant followed by a nice cocktail place.
4. New Year's Eve!
It’s been very very challenging mate. Ups are big and so are the downs. Yet I am not gonna wish here for another easier or cheerful year.
