Talking about Wong Chuk Hang, “factories”, “far away” or “Ocean Park” are probably the words that pop up in your mind. But, no no. Digging into this area of a mixture of Arts and businesses will definitely blow your mind off. You may not know yet, but if you spend time exploring, in fact this quietly-developing place is filled with themed cafes, art galleries and boutique designers’ hotels. Sensory Zero is undoubtedly a gemstone in this secret corner at the heart of the busy city. Trust me, this place will not fail to impress you.
The floor to ceiling glass panels allow natural light to enter this cafe on the ground floor. The cafe utilizes wood throughout its design to create a simple and “back-to-basic” style. For all wood-lovers, you will immediately fall in love with their raw wooden tables and wooden chairs as much as I do. At the same time, the other side of Sensory Zero is a showroom for Lane Crawford home goodies. Each single piece of edgy furniture surprisingly immerses really well to create the chillaxing atmosphere.
The food is also equally amazing. The only thing is that they do not have many main course options. But they do serve a wide range of coffee and drinks. We tried their pasta of the day and all day breakfast coupled with a classic flat white and their signature sparkling mocha. Food is, once again, very delicately served on a traditional Chinese blue floral plate on a wooden board.
We highly recommend their signature lemon tart pairing with hand-dripped black coffee. The combo is AMAZING! What make the tart very special is the diced lemon peels deliberately added which give a chewy texture to the soft and creamy tart filling. The light bitterness of the peels within the ordinary sweetness produces a twist in your tongue. But, nope, that’s not the end yet. Pair it with their hand-dripped black coffee. A very delicate and well-balanced combo. Being such picky coffee-lover, I would say Sensory Zero undeniably deserves all these credits.
Take some time to explore Wong Chuk Hang for sure. A place full of surprises and inspirations. A very quality afternoon time well spent in this high standard cafe indeed.
